Questions people ask
- How far ahead should I book?
- Three to four weeks is comfortable for a portrait or family sitting. Editorial commissions are often quicker — if you need a date inside a fortnight, ask anyway, because cancellations happen.
- What if it rains?
- Most sittings are indoors or under cover, so rain rarely stops anything. If we had planned something that genuinely needs dry weather, we move the date at no cost — that is what the free reschedule is for.
- I hate being photographed. Is that a problem?
- It is the most common thing anyone says to me, and it is why sittings run two to three hours rather than forty minutes. Almost every picture I keep comes from the second hour, once the camera has stopped being the point.
- What should I wear?
- Whatever you actually wear. We talk it through on the pre-shoot call — the only real advice is to avoid brand-new clothes you have not worn in yet, and to bring one alternative in case the light suits something different.
- When do I see the pictures?
- A full gallery within ten days for portraits and family sittings, seven for editorial commissions, with selects from a commission inside 48 hours. A 72-hour rush is available at +40% when the calendar allows.
- Who owns the photographs?
- I keep the copyright; you get a licence. Personal sittings include an unlimited personal print licence. Commercial commissions include a 12-month licence, and extensions are quoted rather than assumed.
- Will my pictures appear on this website?
- Only if you say so. Family and private sittings stay off the site and off social media unless you tell me otherwise, and you see a full edit before anything goes anywhere.
- Do you travel outside the valley?
- Yes. Inside Ring Road there is no travel charge; elsewhere in the valley it is NPR 4,000. Outside the valley is quoted with transport and lodging at cost — no mark-up.
- What happens to my deposit if I need to move the date?
- A 30% deposit holds the date and moves once, free, if either of us needs to reschedule. Beyond that we talk about it rather than reaching for a policy.
